Three Benefits Of Using An Overseas Translation Agency

This blog is the seventh tip in this series. This post will demonstrate that it is okay to outsource your translation projects to companies overseas. The goal of this discussion is to help multinational companies be more informed when determining the best translation service for their next international project. The entire blog series can be viewed on our website.

It is always important to make sure your company is staying competitive. The worst thing a manager can say is: “this is how we have always done things.” What if there is a better and cheaper way to do business. What if you could cut costs by reaching outside your national borders. There are plenty of fish in the sea. This principle holds true in the translation industry. The amount of translation companies continues to expand. If you are considering outsourcing your translation projects, know that they do not have to be able to take you to lunch to do business with them.

The Internet has made business communication possible worldwide. The thing about the Internet is that it not only expands your market of customers, it also expands your options for outsourcing new service providers. When it comes to choosing suppliers, companies have a variety of options. The best way to reach new markets is through customizing your marketing strategies. The best way to use localization is to translate your outreach material into the language of your customers. Here are three reasons why you should consider looking outside your own borders when looking for a translation service.

1. Exchange Rates.

Low cost is the main reason for outsourcing. When you are working with foreign companies, you have the chance to take advantage of exchange rates. Perhaps, your company is operating in a pricey currency, by outsourcing you may be able to save money on operating costs. While taking advantage of foreign exchange rates, your company could also find translators that are more proficient in their native tongues. If your company operates in the U.S. and needs a translation in German, maybe you could find a cheaper deal in Germany with perhaps better quality from a native speaker?

2. Central Location.

If you are a part of a global company, why not take advantage of a company that is centrally located for all of your markets? If your company needs text translated into multiple European languages, maybe a company that is centrally located in Europe would be a good idea to partner with because of the vast network of translators they will have available. In Europe, there are a lot of different language and cultural resources to pull from. Part of the localization process is fitting your markets local language and culture. If you are a German company moving into the Japanese market, why not translate your company’s material using a Japanese translation service? The translation company would be the best at connecting with the local market. Or find an agency that has native speakers that specialize in your company’s industry.

3. Use Times Zones To Your Advantage.

Many international companies take advantage of having branches all over the world. If your organization has an urgent deadline to meet in the U.S., find a European translation service, and they could work on your project while you are sleeping. Many companies already use this method. For example, a global media organization could have bureaus across the world to cover news and events 24/7. A corporation could work on something 24 hours and ship the data across times zones to expedite services.

Therefore, the local option is not always the best option for your company. Yet, time and time again, companies limit themselves to their local providers. When, perhaps, there is a better agency outside of their borders that could better meet their needs.
