flexword continues to expand – international
language service provider examines strategic partnerships

(Mannheim, December 2019) As part of its continuous economic growth, flexword, the well-known language service provider headquartered in Mannheim, is currently examining various strategic partnerships. This will allow the international company to seamlessly continue its impressive growth of the last few years and, at the same time, prepare itself ideally for the future. The aim is to engage in strategic cooperation both with efficient, high-tech LSPs in the field of digitalisation and with small and medium-sized translation businesses which are highly specialised in their field and can provide additional well-qualified, experienced manpower for joint projects. In return, the partner LSPs benefit from the efficient, scalable structures and processes which flexword offers as an established company. “We expect another impressive jump in sales for the 2020/2021 business year.   With this measure we are, among other things, setting the course for the future – in terms of both technology and manpower”, said Goranka Miš-Čak, founder and Managing Director of flexword.

Machine translations still need to be handled by professionals

“Today, the translation industry is very highly digitalised and automated. Machine translations are often seen as a magic wand”, explained Vera Dworsky, Head of Project Management at flexword, summing up the current situation in the field. “But the uncritical and nonprofessional use of machine translation tools inevitably produces linguistic and contextual flaws. That’s why the real challenge involves developing processes which allow professional translators and professional technologies to interact perfectly. The translation experts need to have a command of the engines – and not vice versa. This is one of the areas in which we expect innovative input from our planned strategic partnerships.” With this move, the company from Mannheim has once again confirmed that it is one of the most advanced language service providers in the translation industry.

Strategic partnerships boost innovation and digitalisation

The increasing technologization of the language service sector has had a radical impact on the demands made of translators. “The scope and complexity of professional digital tools, including translation engines, are growing all the time”, explained Goranka Miš-Čak. “As such, cooperation with language service providers who, like flexword, already meet the very highest professional and technological quality standards, creates synergy in respect of innovation and smart digitalisation.” One of the key skills of the Mannheim-based LSP, which handles orders from around the world in virtually all language combinations, is its ability to process extremely complex, time-critical translation projects optimally and at any time. These include, for example, international online shops with thousands of products, or the annual financial statements and balance sheets of global concerns from all sectors, which must be available in translation for international shareholders at virtually the same time as the original documents. With these latest measures, flexword is already laying the groundwork for continued impressive growth and is consolidating its position as a leading provider in the international language service market. This strategic move is very much in line with flexword’s self-stated goal of always offering translation concepts which lead the field in technological and professional innovation, flexibility and watertight compliance with data protection law.
